THE CAST

Brianna Johnston

 

Role: Eva Blackmore

Brianna is a Theatre Arts graduate from the Mount Royal University Program. Recent acting credits include The Crucible (Theatre Calgary), The Money Shot (Ground Zero Theatre/Hit & Myth) Polonius and His Children (Ignite! Festival), The Bone House (Apparition Theatre), Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Commedia Princess and the Pea (Birnton Theatricals/Stage West for Kids); The Cat in the Hat (Storybook Theatre); Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare in the Park -Theatre Calgary & Mount Royal University); Do You Bite Your Thumb at Me, Sir!?, Hamlet (Theatre MRU). Brianna works with Trickster Theatre as an Artist in Residence and Program Manager. In addition to acting, Brianna also has performance experience that includes singing, dance, and the flute and piccolo; the latter most notably as a member of the Calgary Stampede Showband. She is also a certified Advanced Actor-Combatant and Paddy Crean Award winner with The Academy of Fight Directors of Canada.

Jordan Galloway

 

Role: Detective Kevin Williams

As an alumni of Red Deer College's Theatre Performance and Creation Program and the Motion Picture Arts Program, Jordan has studied under multiple acting teachers, and worked with many different directors in a variety of roles. His ability to play piano, guitar, bass, percussion/drums, saxophone and sing has allowed him unique opportunities to often perform live music in part of a production. In the college's production of the Twelfth Night (2012, directed by Duval Lang) Jordan played dual roles as Fabian and the Sea Captain and also performed guitar, saxophone and singing. In the Production of The Ghost Sonata (2011, directed by Mieko Ouchi) Jordan played the role of Student and created a multi-instrumental score which he performed when he was not on stage. During his time in the Theatre Performance and Creation Program some of his other training included (but is not limited to) Shakespeare, stage combat, ballet, jazz and modern dance, collaborative and multidisciplinary creation and play writing. When he's not acting for stage or screen he can sometimes be found behind the scenes composing music for a production, writing, directing, or performing live music solo or with his band Youngfellas. Jordan is passionate about the arts and education and makes his living as an educational assistant and private music instructor.

Julz LaBrash

 

Role: Young Eva Blackmore

Born in 2002, Julz is currently in her 9th year of French Immersion education.  She expressed her creativity and interest in all things ‘Arts’ from a young age.  Her love of an audience had her exploring performance in various forms of artistic expression.  Her early songwriting led her to playwriting.  One year of voice lessons was followed by 3 years of Bellydance classes.  She performed solo in Red Deer’s Bellydance Gala and in talent shows.  Julz thrives in drama classes at Tree House Youth Theatre.  She enjoys the challenge of performing in productions with the energy of a live audience.  She has also taken Drama classes during her last 3 years of middle school with various teachers.  Julz is learning guitar and is in her 2nd year of Art Classes with Artribute Art School.  Her current focus, alongside her role in Exu, is playwriting, filming and the editing process.  Film projects are her 1st choice for school assignments.  The 2016 Talent Show has her writing and directing a play with a cast of 12.  Julz has been and will remain an avid patron of the Arts in all forms and she looks forward to future opportunities to expand her creative repertoire.  Having a role in Exu is an extraordinary experience that has opened up the exciting world of film even more.

Jason Steele

 

Role: Francis Blackmore

Jason is an actor who has never been afraid to tackle any role from physical comedy to dark brooding characters. He has done film, TV, web, theatrical, improv, sketch, stand up comedy. Besides acting he produces live murder mystery shows and has done lots of behind the scenes work in independent films. He is currently contracted to write a feature film and a TV series for a Director in Vienna, Austria. He appreciates the opportunity to work with such a talented team on EXU.

Jaimie Marchuk

 

Role: Vicky Blackmore

Jaimie was born the year of 2002. When she's not rehearsing or performing on stage and for film, her hobbies include dancing, singing, basketball, playing the piano, and eating peanut butter.

Thomas Bradshaw

 

Role: Chief of Police

Tom is an instructor in the Theatre Performance & Creation program in the School of Creative Arts at Red Deer College. He has trained at York University where he earned an MFA (Acting) degree and a Graduate Teaching Diploma (Voice & Speech), as well as a Musical Theatre diploma from Grant McEwan.

Outside of theatre Tom has worked in civic government with the City of Red Deer as the Cultural Programmer for the Performing Arts, and he continues to work with corporate clients as an executive coach and speaker.

Preslee Waines

 

Role: Kate Blackmore

Preslee Waines, born 2004, loves sports, travelling, reading, and eating churros. She also enjoys learning Tae Kwon Do with her Dad. Preslee dreams of one day being an actor, just like the ones in her favorite movies: the Harry Potter series. Preslee loves nothing more than snuggling up with a book, her dog, and a warm cup of tea. She's always eager to try new things...and go for Starbucks.

Braedan Pettigrew

Braedan Pettigrew grew up in his hometown of High River Alberta.

 

This is Braedan's first time acting in front of a camera but he has a lot of experience on the stage, from dancing to being in plays, Braedan as done it. Braedan is a second year student in the U of L bachelors of fine arts and education. He is very excited to be part of the Exu team and can't wait to see the final product.

Gin was born in Ukraine, but was raised in Mexico. He lived in California, and currently works in Canada. He's passionate about on-screen entertainment and believes that visual story telling opens the mind and the heart. He has been involved in independent film making, in front and behind the camera, and will bring an extra touch of passion and charisma to every role he gets a chance to play.

Tyler Duffy

 

Role: Detective Jesse Miller

Tyler is an Actor, Writer, and Director with a Psychology background.  Along with working in the film industry he also is engaged in the community through researching mentorship programs and organizing positive development programs for youth.  Tyler is also enjoys playing music and writing music score to the films that he writes and directs.

Paul has a long history of stage work in Ontario and Alberta, and the Bahamas. His film work includes roles in Naked Frailties, Pizney’s Occupation, To The Victor, Final Salutation, Looking Glass, plus the AMPIA-nominated films, Outside of the Lines and Wait Time, and the award-winning, Under the Acorn Tree.

Andrea Jorawsky

 

Role: Prosecutor

Andréa was born and raised in Calgary and now calls Edmonton home. She is absolutely thrilled to be working on this film. Most recently she was seen in Bed Bugs, an independent film written & directed by Mike Robertson, winner of The Blue Revue Film Festival 2015. For Punctuate! Theatre: This is War, Criminal Genius, Featuring Loretta, The Silence Project, Dirt, Vice Re Versa, The End of Civilization and Judith. For EAST/WEST Collective: East of Berlin. Northern Light Theatre; Bitches & Money 1878.
